I've been ( and still very much am ) obsessed with 90's supermodels. they were so Gorgeous and glamorous + they were healthy and fit! Somehow they felt like real women with meat on their bones but possessed outrageous, unimaginable beauty.
this obsession led to a realization. I wanted to recreate some of the iconic 90's supermodel shoots with models I know and respect. i came across this group shot that totally inspired me. Every woman in the image was at the top of her game... real "supermodels"!
i started collaborating with my close friend and extremely talented photographer, Jake Toler, about te details of this shoot. We decided to put together some of the strongest models in Dallas and dress them in menswear ( because what's sexier than a woman in her man's clothes? ;) ).
casting the ideal group of girls was largely dependent on unique facial structures, skin tones, diversity, and the ability to express a range of emotions. The models we finally decided on were Kelly gillespie, Molly Overton, Gabrielle Gray, and myself. All of these girls are represented by top agencies around the world and have busy schedules, so we knew it was a long shot getting them to the same place, at the same time. buuuuut they did it!!! When they all said "of course" and "i'm in, when and where?", i knew magic was about to happen.
I'm so proud of this shoot because i believe ( and I'm biased ) that the models were perfectly cast, the stylist [ KJ Moody ] was so talented and pulled unique ma-and-pa type menswear, the hair and make up artist [ Al Tidwell ] did exceptional minimalist touches to already beautiful faces, and the photographer [ Jake Toler ] showed his expertise by creating a chic, sexy mood-lighting that brought the styling, hair and make-up, and models' bone structure to their full potential.
This crew killed it. I hope you love this story "Girl Gang" brought together by us:

I met Danielle at a shoot two days earlier where she was assisting another photographer [ Jake Toler ]. immediately i fell in love with her energetic, kind, empathetic spirit. I insisted we shoot before she left for Europe in 2 days. she pulled it together and got Britta to drive down last minute from Oklahoma city.
after being stuck in 2 hours of traffic driving north and then almost getting kicked out of our location, we only had about an hour of "failing light" left. it was perfect!
We created this beautiful Ralph lauren inspired country dreams story in one hour! I love it and I hope you do too!
I've been working with Jake Toler for about 6 months now and we normally work with a very small crew. on this particular collaboration, we put together such an easy-going group of people that if felt like just lounging around the house with friends. The location was awesome because *surprise surprise* it was Ashley's house (our make up artist). Ashley's house is like something straight off of a pinterest board for "artsy but cute".
I couldn't have felt more at home with this amazing group of friends in such a cool casa. at one point Ashley was even making us hole-in-ones (for those of you who don't know- it's a buttered piece of bread with the center cut out and a fried egg cooked inside -nom nom)
